BARNSTABLE — Police are investigating after a 7-year-old child was hit in the leg with a projectile while at a playground, possibly from a BB gun.

Barnstable Police said the child was struck at a playground near Mary Dunn Road and Independence Drive on Thursday, July 25, shortly before sunset. The child, hit with "an unknown projectile," was treated at Cape Cod Hospital for entry and exit wounds on their shin.

The child was released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

The investigation remains open. Anyone with information can contact Detective Christopher Botsford at 774-339-0764 or 275@barnstablepolice.com.
