Around Town with Phil: Network with Other Young Professionals

All young professionals eager to learn, increase their access to leads and network are welcomed to attend a special event.

The SouthCoast Young Professional Network (SCYPN) is proud to present their second edition of the 2018 CEO Unplugged series, which will take place on June 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Bristol Community College’s New Bedford Campus, Room NH216, located at 800 Purchase Street. The 2018 CEO Unplugged series is sponsored by Taunton Federal Credit Union.

The SCYPN's CEO Unplugged series is held quarterly and provides young professionals with an opportunity to connect with and learn from successful local CEOs. Aimed to be a source of inspiration and a wealth of knowledge, the CEOs share their personal experiences and journey to success with the participants in an informal, small group setting.

For this event, the featured speaker will be Dr. Laura Douglas, President of Bristol Community College.

As a dedicated agent of growth and change, she previously served as a provost of Des Moines Area Community College’s Urban Campus (DMACC), part of a large multicultural college system, where she had an exceptional record of accomplishment working with underrepresented populations to enroll them in college and ensure they graduate.

President Douglas attended the University of Southern Maine where she earned an undergraduate degree in Social Welfare. She holds a master’s degree in International Administration from the School of International Training in Vermont, and a master’s and Ph.D. in education from the University of Michigan’s Center for the study of Higher and Postsecondary Education.

Passionate about student success, economic development, and workforce preparedness to alleviate poverty, Dr. Laura firmly believes in putting the “community” in Community College.
