Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl is being formally charged with desertion.

Bergdahl was released in a prisoner exchange last year after more than four years in captivity in Afghanistan..

Army Colonel Daniel King said Bergdahl is also being charged with "misbehavior before the enemy."

Bergdahl went missing from his Afghanistan base in 2009 and was captured by the Taliban.

A military preliminary hearing will be held in San Antonio.  Bergdahl could face life in prison if he is found guilty of the charges.
