A real estate developer has reached an agreement to buy 29 of the 31 Benny's locations.

WPRI 12 spoke with Benny's spokesman Dante Bellini who confirmed on Tuesday that Carpionato Group will succeed the Bromberg family in ownership of the 14 RI locations, the 11 in Massachusetts and the four in Connecticut.

The two other Benny's locations were lease properties, so they were not part of the sale.

No word yet on what the Benny's locations will become, but Carpionato is expected to seek retail tenants for all of the locations and even hopes to re-employ all of the former Benny's employees.

Financial details from the deal have not been disclosed and the sale is expected to close in the first quarter of next year.

Currently there are just three Benny's locations still open.
