Sunday's weather is looking like a great day to go out for an afternoon drive. I used to love doing this on Sundays when I was a kid, and I still enjoy forcing the family to do this now that I'm a dad.

There aren't going to be too many more chances for you to take a nice New England fall Sunday drive before the temperatures start to fall and the snow starts to fly, so I thought it might be nice to put together a list of some of my favorite drives.

The SouthCoast is ripe with scenic rides. My favorites tend to include waterfront roads. A vast majority of Americans never get the chance to see the ocean, never mind take a casual Sunday drive along it. We are so lucky to have access to the ocean whenever we feel the need, so Sunday drives along the water are always a winner. Strategically timing it with a sunset brings it to the next level.

We also happen to live in a particularly nice place to see the foliage. Nothing like a nice backroads ride in Rochester or Dighton to catch the vibrant colors of autumn. I tend to enjoy seeing the old rock walls. I always wonder who built them and how long they've been there.

I always like to work in a mandatory stop at a locally-owned homemade ice cream shop. Besides, it's usually the only way I can talk my kids into coming and leaving their phones at home.
