Alex Rodriguez has a reputation for slumping in the playoffs, and this year is no different. Manager Joe Girardi is being proactive about it, and has decided to sit the star.

Baseball fans know that when Alex Rodriguez steps up to the plate, it’s a dangerous situation – unless it’s October. For some reason he goes completely cold. After getting out in some big situations in Thursday’s game four loss against the Orioles, he has been benched.

Eric Chavez will step in to play for the struggling A-Rod. In previous games during this series, Raul Ibanez has pinched hit for Rodriguez.
