New York City’s World Trade Center Tower is the tallest building in the U.S.  The Height Committee of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat issued its ruling this morning.

The committee ruled that the needle on top of 1 World Trade Center is part of the actual building.

Officials in the Windy City had claimed that wasn’t the case, and that Chicago’s 14-hundred-and-50-foot Willis Tower was the tallest building in America.

Counting the needle, 1 World Trade Center is officially 17-hundred-and-76-feet tall.  1 World Trade Center will open in January.   (Metro Networks Inc.)
