Woman Reports Purse Stolen While in Church

Fall River Police are looking for a man who stole an elderly woman's purse while she was attending church last Sunday.  Police Spokesman Detective J.D. Costa says the woman had put the purse under a church bench, and noticed it missing about 90 minutes later.  Police say the man who apparently took the purse then used the woman's credit cards and cash to purchase cigarettes from three stores in the South End of Fall River.

The picture above, from one of the store's surveillance camera, is the man beleived to have taken the purse and used the woman's credit cards.  A similar incident happened in New Bedford two years ago.  Anyone with information about the Fall River theft should contact Officers Adam Katz or Allen Cordeiro at 508 324-2802.
