The White House is launching a new campaign to combat rapes at colleges and universities. "It's On Us" aims to boost public awareness about campus sexual assaults.

In a White House event, President Obama called it a problem that matters to every person in the U.S. He told sexual assault victims, quote -- "You are not alone and we have your back." Obama said parents have a responsibility to teach their sons the importance of respecting women. He called for a national policy of no tolerance for rape.

Vice President Joe Biden said rape has long-been an uncomfortable issue that many people choose to look away from. He insisted that colleges and universities need to "step up their game" to make campuses safer and go after rapists.

It is estimated that one-in-five women will be sexually assaulted while attending college. Biden noted that "every one of these statistics is a life." He insisted that "no means no." Obama and Biden also touted the launch of a website, itsonus.org (Metro Networks Inc.)
