Westport Town Meeting Resumes Tuesday

Westport will resume their Town Meeting Tuesday night after it was adjourned at their May 5 meeting.

Town Moderator Steven Fors posted on the Westport, MA Town Meeting Facebook page that the meeting had to be adjourned because the Board of Selectmen didn't file the layouts of the streets proposed for acceptance with the Town Clerk seven days before Town Meeting.

Fors says it is illegal for Town Meeting to vote on a street acceptance if the layout wasn't filed in time.

The earliest a vote could legally have been taken was June 13, but Westport High School wouldn't be available until Tuesday night.

The remaining articles, 50-57, will be voted on when Town meeting resumes at 7 p.m. at Westport High School.
