Westport fire officials are investigating the cause of a blaze Sunday night that destroyed a home at 463 American Legion Highway. Firefighters responded to the call around 10 pm and found the two story wood frame structure fully involved in fire. Tanker trucks were called in to help due to the lack of hydrants in the area. It took an hour to bring the fire under control but the house was destroyed. No one was injured and Westport firefighters were aided by Tiverton, Little Compton, Dartmouth District 3 and Fall River fire departments. The owners of the house were not home at the time of the fire. The cause is under investigation.
