Wareham Man Jumps Off Bourne Bridge, Dies

A Wareham man is dead in an apparent suicide. According to State Police, the unidentified 41-year-old man scaled the fence of the Bourne Bridge and jumped to his death just before 9:30 this morning.

Numerous drivers crossing the bridge alerted police to the situation. State Police, the Army Corps of Engineers, and the Coast Guard responded to the Cape Cod Canal, and recovered the body.

The man was transported to Tobey Hospital in Wareham where he was pronounced dead. State Police will not be releasing the man's name, as they do not generally identifiy victims of suicide.
