The Dartmouth 350 Committee recently teamed up with the Plymouth 400 organization and the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries to bring an exhibit about the history and culture of the Wampanoag tribe to Dartmouth in March.

According to South Coast Today.com, the exhibit, "Our Story: 400 Years of Wampanoag History," will be welcomed to the Southworth Library for a month-long stay at a March 2 reception, with its conclusion on March 30. The exhibit is currently on display at the Quincy Historical Society, and the exhibit "shines a light on pieces of history that had a significant impact on the Wampanoag tribe, their relationship with the Mayflower Pilgrims, and the founding of Plymouth Colony."

Dartmouth 350 Committee Chair Dr. Cyndi Marland. stated that the "museum-quality" exhibit consists of multiple large panels illustrating various aspects of Wampanoag culture and history.  It also includes a companion short film produced in conjunction with the Indian Spiritual and Cultural Training Council.

The third grade curriculum at the Dartmouth public school system focuses on local history. Marland stated that "she hopes the town's elementary schools can also be involved in the activities related to the exhibit's visit here in March."
