Two New Bedford lawyers have written a letter to the Mass. Gaming Commission, urging them to follow the state's 2012 Casino Law, and award a casino license in Region C --- Southeastern Massachusetts.

Attorney Phil Beauregard and Attorney George Leontire wrote the letter after watching the March 19th meeting of the Gaming Commission, where at least two Commission members seemed to suggest that perhaps they didn't need to award a license in Region C.

Attorney Leontire said he was troubled by that....

Leontire says the Commission needs to focus on the benefits a casino would bring to the host community and the surrounding area.

Leontire says the letter essentially puts the Commission on notice that people are watching, and they should follow the law.

Neither attorney represents anyone involved in the casino process.
