Two Indicted For New Year’s Eve Homicide In New Bedford

A Bristol County Grand Jury has indicted two men for the New Year's Eve murder of Aaron Gant Jr. of New Bedford.

A spokesman for the District Attorney says the grand jury indicted 23 year old Aaron Bookman and 24 year old Angel Acevedo, both of New Bedford on charges of murder, carrying an illegal firearm and assault and battery by means of a firearm.

Both men were arrested in January on lesser charges and are in custody. Arraignment dates in Superior Court have not been set.

Police say Gant was sitting in a car on Grinnell Street, near Pleasant, on December 31, 2015 when he was shot. He was transported to St. Luke's Hospital and pronounced dead.  Detectives have said previously Gant was an innocent victim.
