Manchester, N.H. Police were called to the scene of a Sunday night football game where a fight broke out involving members of the Whaling City Clippers and the New Hampshire Wolfpack.

Lt. Brian N. O'Keefe says the incident was reported at 6:15 p.m. at West Memorial Field located across from West High School.

O'Keefe says upon arrival officers noted multiple “pockets” of players aggressively “going at each other.”

During the course of the fight a Wolfpack player, identified as 26-year-old Michael Vinagro of Manchester, N.H., is accused of striking a Clippers player, identified by the team as 25-year-old Brian Fernandes with a football helmet.

Fernandes lost consciousness and Clippers owner and Head Coach George Duarte told WBSM's Brian Thomas he was suffering from symptoms of concussion.

Duarte also claims that Wolfpack personnel refused to provide medical attention to his injured player.

"At one point he appeared to stop breathing , he was colvulsing on the ground face down, I had to roll him over, and we were asking for a medic, they refused," said Duarte "the coach never took another step he just stood right there, never went to get a medic."

O'Keefe says Fernandes was tended to AMR personnel and refused further medical treatment.

He ended up leaving with his team a short time later.

Vinagro was arrested on charge of Second Degree Assault.

Verbal insults continued as additional units arrived on scene and police ultimately channeled the players toward the parking lot, so the Clippers could board the bus without further incident.

O'Keefe says one member of the Clippers team, identified as 25-year-old Dagnir Pina, was arrested on a charge of Disorderly Conduct and taken to police headquarts.

Vinagro was released on $2,000.00 cash/surety bail and is set to appear in the Ninth Circuit Court-Manchester on October 21.

Pina was released on $500.00 personal recognizance and is scheduled to appear in the Ninth Circuit Court-Manchester on October 22.
