Twitter Pic Leads To Arrest In New Bedford

A 17 year old was arrested Wednesday night after New Bedford Police say he posted photos of himself on Twitter posing with a gun, bragging about the jewelry on his neck, and tempting people to try and rob him.

Police say they conducted an investigation then arrested the teen as he was leaving a Hunter Street apartment.

They then searched the apartment where five underage siblings were found inside. Detectives also found a .40 caliber handgun, ammunition, 19 bags of crack, and over $1400 in cash.

The mother and aunt later arrived during the search.

The suspect was arraigned today in New Bedford Juvenile Court on charges including Unlawful possession of a firearm and Possession with intent to distribute a Class B substance

The Department of Child and Family Services was also notified.
