This past July, Chris Hansen, who was the former investigative reporter for the television show, "To Catch a Predator," on Dateline NBC, visited Taunton to find more information about a 2007 murder case.

Hansen is currently in his second season hosting the Investigation Discovery network’s “Killer Instinct,” which a reality television show that mixes interviews with documentary style reenactments.

The season two episode featuring the Cassidy case is being aired next Monday, Sept. 26, at 9 p.m.

According to Wicked Local Brockton, Hansen states that it was the 2007 murder of the Taunton resident James Madonna and the 2012 conviction of his killer, Timothy J. Cassidy, that piqued the interest of his staff.

“He was such an unlikely victim,” Hansen said of Madonna, who was 44 the night he was shot to death at close range by a man he considered a close, family friend.

Cassidy was convicted of murder in the first degree in Fall River Superior Court after three days of deliberation by a 12-person jury.
