About seventy people turned out Monday night at UMass Dartmouth to discuss the region's transportation issues with state officials.

The Mass. Dept. of Transportation is holding 19-meetings around the state, trying to understand what transportation projects people want funded for the next year and beyond.  Susan Teal of Rochester offered support for the  Southcoast Commuter Rail Project.  Teal says Southcoast Rail is not only a transportation program, but an economic development project as well.

Other speakers asked for additional funding for SRTA so the transit authority could expand its service.  And former Fall River City Councilor Brian Pearson suggested the state put more emphasis on bike paths, and creating a bike path that  would run from Fall River to Cape Cod.
