Dartmouth residents can expect departments at Town Hall to stay put for the foreseeable future.

Last night, Town Meeting members voted against a $300,000 renovation to relocate departments to a central location on the third floor. Supporters of the article said the change would improve customer service and save the town money in the long run.

The lone Select Board member to oppose the article, John George Jr., told WBSM Dartmouth has bigger issues to worry about.

George and others opposed to the article questioned whether it would actually improve customer service at town hall, saying the money would be better spent repairing the outside structure of the building instead.

This was the only article to be voted down last night, with the first three passing with majority support from both Town Meeting members and town officials alike.
