Three Arrested In The South End On Drug Charges

Three people were arrested Thursday afternoon after New Bedford Police say they took part in a drug transaction in the city's South End.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says at around 1 p.m. a detective near Fair Street and Briggs Street observed a woman meeting up with two men inside a Nissan Maxima where the transaction took place.

The woman, identified as 23-year-old Paris DeSousa of New Bedford, was found with a Percocet and arrested and charged with possession.

The Nissan was also stopped and officers recovered over $1400 in cash and five Percocet pills.

The males in the car, identified as 44-year-old Michael Pina and 21-year-old Gilberto Collazo, both of New Bedford, were arrested on drug distribution charges.

All three suspects were scheduled for arraignment in New Bedford District Court.
