State police have identified two people who were killed in a fiery, single-vehicle crash on Interstate 195 in Swansea.

Authorities say the victims of the accident on Thursday night were 22-year-old Katrina Gomes and 19-year-old Joseph Vodden. Both lived in Taunton. A third person, 20-year-old Nicholas Hopper of Taunton, suffered serious injuries and was brought to Rhode Island Hospital.

Troopers say the vehicle was engulfed in flames when they responded to the crash site off I-195 westbound near Exit 2 just after 11 p.m. Thursday. Police say the car went off the highway and struck a tree before catching fire.

State police say Gomes was the driver. She and Vodden were trapped in the car and pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
