There have been many scattered power outages in the area over the past 24 hours. Early this morning close to 2 thousand homes in the North End of New Bedford were affected.

Most have got their power back. NSTAR spokesman Mike Durand tells WBSM News the heavy wet snow and the strong winds effect the power.

Durand adds that weakend branches can fall on power lines even after the storm passes which is one of the reasons NSTAR has implimented a tree pruning program in Greater New Bedford.
