The parents of the woman shot and killed by Olympic sprinter and double-amputee Oscar Pistorius are shocked that he will be out of prison this summer.

The South African runner was convicted of culpable homicide last year and sentenced to five years in prison for the death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. He was acquitted of murder.

South Africa's parole board announced Monday that Pistorius will be out on parole by the end of August, after serving just ten months of his sentence behind bars. A lawyer for the Steenkamps tells NBC News they feel that's just not enough time for taking a life.

His troubles won't be over though, as prosecutors are appealing the not-guilty finding on the murder charge. Pistorius is due back in court in November for that. (Metro Networks Inc.)
