Suspect In Springfield Killing Caught In Mexico
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Federal marshals say a suspect in a fatal shooting in Springfield nearly a year ago has been captured in Mexico.
Daniel Spellacy, supervisor for the Springfield U.S. Marshals office, tells WSHM-TV that Julio Leiva was apprehended in Tijuana, Mexico, on Wednesday night.
Leiva, whose address was listed as Framingham, is wanted in connection with the slaying last November of 34-year-old William Serrano. Serrano was shot seven times as he sat on the porch of a city home.
Springfield police said at the time that Serrano was dating Leiva's former girlfriend.
Three others had previously been indicted in connection with Serrano's death.
