Police crime scene

New Bedford Police are investigating a shooting in the south end Wednesday night. Capt. Steve Vicente tells WBSM News that officers were sent to 25 Mosher Street about a male being shot in the back. They found the victim, identified as 19 year old Daniel DaRosa of County Street, lying in the second floor hallway with the gunshot wound.

He told Police he went outside to smoke a cigarette when he was shot by an unknown assailant. DaRosa was taken to Rhode Island Hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Detective Michael Carrier at 508-991-6300 ext 114.
