South End Floodgates Closing in New Bedford

The floodgates on West and East Rodney French Blvds in the South End of New Bedford are closing as of 1pm, as a precaution to prevent major flooding north of the gates. The gates take about an hour to close.

The voluntary evacuation for the South End of New Bedford is still active.

Mayor Jon Mitchell will be giving an update to members of the press at 2:30 today.
