President Obama has picked the senior senator from Massachusetts to deliver a speech focused on national security issues during the closing night of the convention. The Dems are likely to focus on national security as one of the main topics at their convention to highlight Obama's work to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and his approval of the mission that ultimately led to the death of Osama bin Laden.

Kerry is chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. There are also rumors he could be tabbed to replace Hillary Rodham Clinton as U.S. Secretary of State should Obama win re-election
