White House spokesman Josh Earnest says President Obama is obviously concerned about a recent security breach but continues to have confidence in the Secret Service and its embattled director, Julia Pierson.

During a briefing, Earnest said the President also understands that the Secret Service has a very difficult job. A fence-jumper with a knife recently got into the Executive Mansion of the White House. Earnest said Pierson has not offered her resignation to the President.

Testifying in Congress, Pierson acknowledged that suspect Omar Gonzalez got much further into the Executive Mansion than was originally reported. Earnest would not confirm a "Washington Post" report that the suspect was eventually tackled by an off-duty Secret Service agent.

New questions have also been raised about the Secret Service's response to a 2011 incident when a gunman fired several shots at the White House. Earnest said President Obama expects the Secret Service to propose a number of reforms after a comprehensive review is completed. (Netro Networks Inc)
