Update:  The search for a missing Marion kyacker has been suspended. Fairhaven Police Sgt. Kevin Kobza released a statement Wednesday saying there were no new developments following a full day of searching the waters off West Island and Little Bay on Wednesday.

A search started late Tuesday and continued through New Year's Day for 21 year old Dana Dourdeville, who grabbed his kyack Tuesday afternoon and told his family he was going duck hunting.  When he failed to return home after dark, his family contacted police.

The Coast Guard has been searching the waters off Fairhaven overnight.  Police Sgt. Kevin Kobza says the kyack was located around 11pm three miles offshore between West Island and Falmouth.  He said there was no water inside, and did not appear to have capsized.

The missing man is described as a white male, about 5-10 with brown hair.  He was thought to have been wearing brown sweatpants and a red life jacket.

Fairhaven Police and Fire Departments were joined by the Fairhaven Harbormaster, State Police Air Branch, and the New Bedford Police Marine Unit on Wednesday searching the east side of West Island and the Little Bay area.
