Rt. 18 Fatal Accident

Two men died early Saaturday Morning from injuries they sustained during a car crash late Friday night on Rt. 18 in New Bedford. The driver, 30 year old Luismiguel Fernandes of Dorchester and his passenger 28 year old Winnitue Montrond of New Bedford had to be extricated from the heavily damaged car by the fire dept.

Montrond was pronounced dead at the scene while Fernandes was pronounced dead at R I Hospital.

Police say the 2003 black jaguar struck and knocked down a tree at the intersection of Warren St. and Rt. 18.

Police say the vehicle was traveling between 80 and 100 miles an hour at the time of the accident which they believe caused  the accident.
