Rhode Island Man To Be Charged With Swansea Murder

A Rhode Island man is awaiting extradition to Massachusetts for the murder of a Swansea woman last year.  The Providence Journal reports that 54 year old David Sousa of Warren was charged by Rhode Island State Police with being a fugitive from justice.

Sousa was indicted last October by a Bristol County Grand Jury for the November, 2012 strangling death of 51 year old Lisa Mello in her Swansea home.  Police say Sousa had been Mello's boyfriend at the time of her death.

Sousa is currently being held at the Adult Corrections Institution in Cranston, after waiving extradition proceedings. (Associated Press)
