TMZ is reporting pop superstar Prince is dead at 57. His body was reportedly found this morning at his Minnesota estate.

The pop icon had a medical emergency last week, but appeared the next day at a concert telling his fans he was okay.

TMZ reported he was battling the flu. Before his most recent appearance, he had cancelled a couple of shows because of health reasons.

Prince became a world-wide superstar after his breakthrough album "1999." He won several Grammys throughout his career and won an Academy Award for Purple Rain in 1985.

One of the top crossover artists of his time, Prince had a unique sound that combined rock with R&B, soul and hip-hop. During a 40-year career, Prince sold over 100-million records. He had four albums go number-one including "Purple Rain" in 1984.

Celebrities are already posting their condolences on social media. Katy Perry tweeted that the world just lost a lot of magic. Chelsea Clinton posted a simple thank you to the legend. Dane Cook wrote in a lengthy Instagram post that Prince was his favorite musician and that he should have been making music for decades to come. Ellen DeGeneres tweeted that Prince was brilliant and today is a sad day.
