A national water trail is coming to the Southcoast region.  The plan was announced Thursday night at the New Bedford Whaling Museum. 

Several community groups, the Whaling National Historical Park, Buzzards Bay Coalition and the Whaling History Alliance have been working on the project for the past ten months.

Alliance President and Ward Six Councilor Joseph Lopes says the water trail will create recreational opportunities throughout the region....

Lopes says the SoCo Blueways Water Trail will also involve land trails as well.

Water trails throughout the country provide folks with a variety of opportunities for active and passive recreation.
