The Ray Rice domestic violence case is affecting how the Baltimore Ravens proceed with player personnel moves.

General Manager Ozzie Newsome says the team will be extra careful in free agency and the draft, noting that it will be tough to bring in someone who has domestic abuse in their background and consider them a Raven.

Newsome says they plan to exhaust every character aspect of a player and allow that information to lead them to the right decision.

The Ravens initially stood by Rice, but then released him after video surfaced of him knocking out his now wife with a punch to the face in an Atlantic City casino elevator last February.

Rice was first suspended just two games by the NFL following the incident, but the suspension became indefinite and Rice was cut by the Ravens after the video went public.

Rice was reinstated by the league late last year, but has yet to sign with a new team and remains a free agent.  (Metro Networks Inc.)
