President Obama is once again acting as consoler-in-chief. Obama traveled to Oregon to meet with the families of victims of last week's deadly mass shooting in Roseburg.

The President met privately with the families at a local high school for about an hour. Afterwards, Obama told reporters that the country needs to come together to prevent these kind of shootings from happening in the future.

Some pro-gun activists gathered in Roseburg to protest the President's visit.

After the latest mass shooting, an angry Obama made an impassioned plea for new gun safety regulations. Nine people were killed by a gunman at a community college and several others were injured. The gunman committed suicide during a shootout with police. (Metro Networks Inc)
