American Catholics love their Pope. A CNN/ORC poll released today shows that 88-percent of people surveyed approve of the way Francis is handling his role as leader of the world's one-point-two billion Catholics. CNN's polling director says the new survey suggests the Argentine-born Pope is the most well-regarded religious figure among Americans today. The 77-year-old Pontiff has drawn worldwide approval for public acts of compassion, including embracing a severely disfigured man, washing the feet of juvenile delinquents, and hosting homeless men at his birthday Mass.
