New Bedford Police are investigating a robbery and a stabbing in seperate incidents Monday. Shortly after 1 Monday Afternoon, a 37 year old female was robbed of her wallet on the Kennedy Highway Overpass in the South End. Police say she was approached by a tall black man, dressed in black, who took the wallet from her hand and was last seen running south on Morton Court.

The empty wallet was found in a rear yard near Cove Street. Then Monday night around 9:30, a 28 year old man was stabbed by 3 men who forced their way into his Tallman Street apartment and chased him outside and stabbed him in the thigh. He was also punched in the face several times. He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital for the non life threatening injuries.

Police believe the stabbing was in retaliation for a debt the man owed to one of the assailants. Anyone with information on either incident is asked to call New Bedford Police Detectives at 508-991-6300 ext 320.
