Police Investigate New Bedford North End Stabbing

New Bedford Police are investigating a North End stabbing.  The incident occured at Tallman St and Ashley Blvd at around 11 pm Thursday.  Det. Captain Steve Vicente tells WBSM News, two hispanic males approached the unidentified victim and asked him for a light and then attempted to steal his gold chain. The victim initially fought off the first suspect but a second man punched him in the back of the head, and the first suspect slashed the victim in the upper arm causing a 4 inch cut.

The victim  drove himself to St. Luke's Hospital and was treated and released while the 2 suspects escaped. They are described as 5 ft 10 inches tall. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective William Westgate at 508-991-6300 ext 136.
