I came across this unbelievable post from MTV about a dating site creating FAKE profiles to lure users into upgrading their memberships. Some of the rates were as high as $30 a month! Yes, JDI Dating catfished its OWN users! For anyone unfamiliar with the term, catfish refers to "someone who pretends to be someone they're not using Facebook or other social media to create false identities, particularly to pursue deceptive online romances" (thank you, Urban Dictionary).

The site was fined over $600,000 for the bamboozle and the money is to be returned to the wronged users. Now little Johnny can afford to take real-life Sally out on a real-life date!
