Improvements are coming to the maternity ward at St. Lukes Hospital. Phase one of the $13 million project is now complete.

Nineteen post-partum rooms have been enlarged and upgraded with families in mind.

Clinical Nurse Manager Kara Gauvin tells WBSM's Pete Braley, the rooms are more like a hotel than a hospital....

Gauvin and her team helped design the new post-partum unit, making suggestions on everything from the height of the patient's bed to flat screen t-v's.

The second phase of the improvement project, the labor and delivery areas, is expected to be finished by early next year.
