The New England Patriots have made a corresponding roster move to clear space for newly acquired linebacker Jon Bostic. In order to free up room on the active roster, the team has announced that running back Travaris Cadet was released, today.

Cadet was originally signed by New England in March of this year, as a potential replacement for running back Shane Vereen, who signed a  5-year deal with the New York Giants this off season.

Cadet was plagued by injuries this preseason which kept him off the field for the team's four preseason games. While they didn't get a true game look at the versatile back, who spent the first three years of his career with the New Orleans Saints, the coaching staff kept the fourth year veteran on the active roster through the first three games of the season.

The emergence of Dion Lewis, who has established himself as a feature back in the Patriots system, and James White, who played well in the preseason, could have affected the opportunity Cadet got to make an impact. Also the strong return of "big back" LeGarrette Blount, who rushed for 78 yards on 18 carries and had three scores in Sunday's drubbing of the Jacksonville Jaguars, most likely made Cadet the odd man out.

While on the active roster, Cadet was a healthy scratch for week one and three and made just one catch for one yard in week two against the bills.

It has also been rumored that the team recently had free agent running back Montee Ball in for a workout.
