The New England Patriots re-signed running back LeGarrette Blount, yesterday, according to the team's website.

Blount, seventh year pro out of Oregon, is in his second tour of duty with the Pats after being traded to the team from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2013.

Following a successful 2013 season with New England, Blount signed a deal to play with the Pittsburgh Steelers. After things started poorly with Pittsburgh, Blount was released by the team and re-signed by the Pats.

Last season, Blount had provided the power in the New England backfield until a hip injury ended his campaign after Week 12.

In three seasons in the New England backfield, Blount has rushed for 1,756 yards and 16 touchdowns on 378 carries. Overall, the 29-year-old has carried the ball 869 times for 3,961 yards and 31 scores throughout his career.

Blount will likely resume the role of the team's top power back in the 2016 season.
