A new state law regarding expelled students is drawing reaction from local education officials. Governor Deval Patrick signed a measure Friday that would require school districts to provide educational opportunities for students that are suspended or expelled. New Bedford School Committee Member Marlene Pollock says the process of expelleing students needs closer attention

 

The measure also requires districts to report discipline data to the State. It takes effect in July 2014.
