Family Guy Character Killed Off

Many people were shocked when they were watching the latest episode of 'Family Guy' to learn that one of the main characters was killed off.  The episode titled 'Life Of Brian' had Brian, the family dog, die during the show.  The producers of the show say that the idea took off one day while writing and it snowballed from there.  Many have shown their anger toward the show by killing off one of the main characters but the producers feel that it was easier to kill off the family pet than for one of the children to die.  By the way the family replaced Brian with a new dog 'Vinny' in a matter of minutes.  Now the real question is, did they really kill Brian?  Should be interesting to see if he returns.
