New Lead Investigator In St. George Sex Abuse Probe
A new lead investigator has been chosen to investigate allegations of sexual abuse at a prestigious Rhode Island boarding school.
The announcement on Wednesday that Boston attorney Martin Murphy will lead the investigation into St. George's School comes a week after former Massachusetts Attorney General Scott Harshbarger was chosen to lead.
Eric MacLeish, an attorney for alleged victims, wouldn't say why Harshbarger is no longer investigating.
Harshbarger didn't return a call seeking comment.
Murphy represented Dirk Greineder, a Massachusetts doctor convicted in 2001 of killing his wife.
In 2014, Murphy was named a special prosecutor in the 2009 death of a Bridgewater State Hospital schizophrenia patient. A grand jury indicted three former hospital guards last year on manslaughter charges in the man's death.
