The Butler Flats Lighthouse has been sold.

The government auction for the 117-year-old "sparkplug-style" structure ended at 1:45 Monday afternoon, with the winning bid coming in at $80,000. The auction was scheduled to end over the weekend, but persistent bidders prompted the government to extend the auction several times.

A spokesperson for General Services Administrative Auctions says the name of the buyer will be released shortly.

The lighthouse is on the National Register of Historic Places, and is no longer recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard as a navigational aid.
