New Bedford Woman Robbed of Purse on South End

A 20 year old New Bedford woman is robbed of her purse and cellphone Thursday night in the south end.

The unidentified woman was getting out of her car and walking home on Independent Street when a man she observed came up behind her, knocked her to the ground and stole the purse and phone.

She was unharmed and the suspect escaped walking westerly on Independent Street. A search of the area came up empty. The suspect is described as a light skinned, hispanic male, between 35 and 40 years old and was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, jeans and white sneakers.
