New Bedford Students To Receive Donations

School nurses from all around New Bedford gathered at Keith Middle School today.

Each year, the New Bedord Educators Association collects donations to buy clothing, educational supplies, and hygiene products for students of all ages in the city.

New Bedford Superintendent Pia Durkin said the annual collection helps meet the basic needs of students, allowing them to focus on school. Durkin described the personal effort each nurse puts into the collection:

The Massachusetts Teachers Association provided a grant along with other donations from community members and organizations adding up to over $5,500 to be used toward the items.
