The stone house in the center of Hazelwood Park is currently vacant and closed to the public, but the City is looking to change that. Mayor Jon Mitchell says he's accepting "expressions of interest proposals" from developers to restore and operate the Congdon-Lucas House, built in 1840.

Speaking on his weekly radio program, Mitchell says whatever the house becomes, it should fulfill a public purpose.

Mitchell says a contract between the City and the chosen developer will be mutually beneficial.

The deadline to submit a proposal is August 16.
